1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them. (I did 20)
Characters: Ishida Uryuu, Inoue Orihime, Ishida Ryuuken
Song 1: Perfect - Cruxshadows (Ishida)
Ishida slammed the door behind him and sunk down against it, holding his head in his hands. Going back to school was a mistake. He should have known he wouldnt have been able to last the full day with Ichigo there. Ever since the Shinigami had left him to go back to Grimmjow, the Quincy had been avoiding going back to school, giving his bruises, sprains, and broken wrist time to slowly begin to heal.
He shook his head and pushed himself standing. Sitting here and thinking about Ichigo wasnt going to help anything. It was hard enough to think about him in passing; places where they would walk, just going over to his house to see him
this wasnt healthy. He shouldnt think about him anymore.
That would take his mind off his former lover. The task would give him something to focus on and be productive. A few quick steps took him across the tiny apartment to his sewing box. There was that new fabric he wanted to try to work with
There was a clatter as he half leapt back from the box
and the simple half finished flannel pants lying on top of his other fabric. The flannel was going to be a gift for Ichigo
something to wear when he stayed over.
He buried his face in his hands as the tears returned.
Song 2: The Waitress - Tori Amos (Orihime)
Orihime was a peaceful girl. She tried to be nice to everyone. She never fought with anyone. She was the kind of girl that people couldnt help but like because she liked everyone.
Most everyone that was.
She would never admit it
but sometimes she wanted to kill Rukia.
Rukia just showed up, and suddenly everyone loved her because of her strange ways. She was silly, pretty, and adorably small. For so long that had been Orihimes job, to be everyones little sister. The boys would love her from afar, because no one would want to challenge all the others to claim her. The girls would laugh and giggle with her and her silly ideas during lunch. She belonged to everyone.
Then Rukia stepped in and everyone turned to her instead.
There was one thing sure
this town was not going to be big enough for both of them.
Song 3 - Temple of Love - Sisters of Mercy (Ryuuken)
When his son had showed up, beaten and half broken, at the doors of his Hospital, Ryuuken was not sure if he should be smug or worried.
Smug that the boy had to return to him sometime.
Worried that he was clearly only standing through Quincy abilities and the power of his will.
He settled on a worried displeased feeling that left him feeling more paternal than he had in several years. He never asked what happened. Anyone with a shred of spiritual awareness would be able to sense the overwhelming presence that was the Sexta Espada all over his son. However, the lingering traces of Isshins son (and that childs hollow) were fainter
The boy was settled into a hospital room, for a few hours of observation. Ryuuken wanted to push him to stay longer, the heavy bruising across his ribs could be hiding something much more severe, but his child would never agree to that.
While the boy slept, his father watched over him with narrowed eyes. This was something to keep an eye on.
Song 4 - Last Night On Earth - Delta Goodrem (Orihime)
I never thought I would really have to say goodbye to everything Ive known in this life. Going to the Soul Society was a fun adventure, but
we all knew we would come back. Somewhere deep in our hearts we could feel the bond between each of us. We would come back together.
I have to go alone. I was told I could say goodbye to one of my Nakama
it of course will be Kurosaki-kun. Hes the only one that I can say goodbye to.
But I wish I could have one more goodbye. Rangiku-san has done so much for me in the short time weve lived together.
that I could have fallen out of love with Kurosaki-kun faster. Then I could have loved Rangiku-san, like I really wanted to.
Song 5 - Lucy Meets Jekyll - Jekyll and Hyde (Ishida)
When Ishida first met him, they fought. They would fight every time they met. Slowly slashes and attacks turned toward a more
intimate nature. The violence of the act always promised an undercurrent of something that Ishida had never known before. Something deeper. Something he found himself wanting.
When the first offer was made, he turned it down with a scoff and a smart comment on his lips.
his soon-to-be lover was not to be turned down.
It didnt seem so bad though, after the first bout of rough, yet almost tender, sex when a whispered promise that he would never be alone slid from Hichigos throat.
Song 6 - Way Down - Tori Amos (Orihime)
She knew she was never going home again. There would be no more Tatsuki-chan to see everyday. No more fireflies down by the river. No more groups, laughing at school. No more Rangiku-san, waiting at home with a smile and a hug for her.
She would never see Kurosaki-kun, Sado-kun, Rukia-chan, or even Ishida-kun again.
But sitting here, eating with this quiet Arrancar that brought her to this world of endless white
She didnt mind as much as she should have.
Song 7 - Good Old Fashioned Loverboy - Queen (Ishida)
Ishida had never paid attention to his classmates ideas of love and romance. They seemed ridiculous and existed only to embarrass their crush into going out with them. It never occurred to him, that he was a bit outdated in the areas of romance (not that he had any experience).
It was the random gifts and bursts of sweetness from his hopeful lover that would win him over slowly. A necklace teasingly removed from a pale neck and tossed at him with a snaky comment, a bouquet of flowers bought on a spurt of randomness to apologize for being a jerk, random moments of petting being held close to a broad chest protectively, and tender moments after a hot afternoon of being together.
It amused him later to think that if he was old fashioned, then at least Hichigo was as well, and he could just hold tight to his lover when things looked down.
Song 8 - Now Is Forever - Eiffel 65 (Ryuuken)
Foolish boy. Cool eyes narrowed behind silver frames as Ryuuken watched out the large window of his office. The boy insisted on going back to that tiny wretched place he called an apartment alone. His resolve was shaking like a leaf in a storm, yet he still insisted that he could care for himself and did not need his father.
If it were not such a stupidly noble thing to do
Ryuuken would be proud.
He spread out his own spiritual awareness to track the boys presence home, and almost dropped the coffee cup he had just lifted when he felt the Kurosaki-boys hollow heading toward him. He was halfway out of the office before he stopped himself. The child was insistent he was an adult; therefore Ryuuken would not get involved
unless he had to.
He settled back into his chair as he felt his sons resolve strengthen a bit from the presence near him. Hands folded in front of his face as he continued to observe from a distance
what an interesting turn of events.
This certainly was something to keep an eye on.
Song 9 - Its a Dangerous Game - Jekyll and Hyde (Ishida)
The brush of two reiatsu coming together slowly and intertwining.
He did not have to open his eyes to know the expression that would be in warm brown orbs. It was an expression he had seen often enough to have it memorized. Tenderness and love, drowning in warm chocolate.
The soft brush of a strong hand ghosting through his hair.
It certainly was a strange romance between the pair, but when had either of them been anything resembling normal.
A lump of emotions rose in his throat as he felt them coming closer together. He found he couldnt speak past the emotions choking him. The silence seemed to speak all the words he did
and did not want to hear.
Cobalt blue eyes opened and stared up at the roof of his empty room, as he lay in bed and tried not to think of the smile Ichigo was wearing at that exact moment with his new lover
Song 10 - Such a Crime - Tory Cassis (Ishida)
Human beings are inherently selfish creatures. Everything they do, whether they are aware of it or not, can be defined down to a selfish action, existing only to fulfill their own needs.
...i just cant bare the thought of loosing you, neither of us can...
They make promises in the heat of moments that they intend to keep with their full hearts. Only to break them at later points in time when it suits there best interests to do so. Each action leads up to a point where they are forced to come to terms with their own selfish nature, as well as that of other humans.
...dont leave us again...dont
don't leave me again...
Humans are not only selfish but irrational creatures as well. They will stand in the face of hopeless odds, with a zero chance of survival. Even knowing that their life could, and would, come to an end because of their selfish actions, their irrational behavior leads them to make foolish choices.
I can give him what you never could!
... I love him. And I let him know that.
Those foolish actions and selfish promises often can lead a simple human down to the depths of despair, but their human nature cannot give them explanations for their actions
only the knowledge that they would make the same choices in any given situation.
I promise... I won't leave either of you alone again... I don't want you to be alone. I won't let you... be alone...
Song 11 - God - Tori Amos (Orihime)
It felt so odd to say. The man, that strange beautiful man, that she watched ascend into the heavens in a beam of golden light. To know that she was so close to him right now, to be so close to the man that claimed he would become God.
It was horribly flattering in a way that he thought so highly of her powers. Her almost worthless powers. The powers, that people would send her away to stay safe from the fights, were wanted by that beautiful God. He wanted her because she could do what he didnt have the power to do.
He wanted her there enough to give her the free choices to come along with his most trusted Espada. He trusted her enough to give her a fairly open room. He sent her company and small comforts so she would stay at least reasonably happy.
Call her crazy, but she grew to slowly think of him as her new God.
Aizen-sama brought her here and choose her to help him.
And she would give her strength to her God, if he asked it of her; she would give it to him.
Because Aizen-sama chose her out of an entire world.
Song 12 - Beautiful Disaster - Jon McLaughlin (Ishida)
He had grown up being told he wasnt good enough. His entire childhood had been a constant struggle to be something that always was just out of reach. A father that never said what he could do, only what he failed at, was something he knew all to well.
When he was young, he would have given anything for his father to look at him with an expression of love, and act like other parents. He knew something was not quite right all his life. He could watch other children with their families and see that his wasnt like the others.
Other parents would be waiting for their children to get out of school to walk home with them. He wore a key around his neck on a chain so he could get into his house. Other children had handmade lunches carefully packed by mothers. He had leftovers from whatever he had for dinner the night before that he wrapped on his own. Other children had sleepovers, parties, and clubs. He had an empty house to do homework in. Other children would get bedtimes stories and kisses goodnight. He never even knew when his father got home anymore.
It wasnt always that way though
There were faint memories that he could almost remember right as he drifted off to sleep about being held up on his fathers shoulders
a rich deep voice that made all pain go away
he wondered what he had done along the way to lose everything he had.
It was as if one day he had been his fathers little boy, then he was suddenly a stranger living in a house that was far to big for one lost little boy.
Song 13 - Iris - Goo Goo Dolls (Ishida)
There were cracks on his ceiling. Blank blue eyes stared up at them. He wasnt really paying attention to the cracks, but they gave his eyes something to move and focus on, as he lay stretched out on his floor trying to lose himself.
Lying on the floor was easier than getting up and trying to patch himself up. It would mean more trouble later when he had to scrub the blood out of the rug, but for now, he was okay with bleeding into it and trying to work up the strength to finish sewing his wounds shut.
It was the only thing he could do. To sew his own wounds that was.
His Fath- no
Ryuuken said he would not be welcome in his own home as long as he claimed the title and responsibilities of a Quincy, and at thirteen years old, he didnt have the money to go to one of the smaller clinics around town.
They would also ask questions.
Questions that he couldnt answer.
Questions like how he got his ribs torn open in four perfect horizontal slashes.
Questions like why a thirteen-year-old boy was living by himself and not with a legal guardian.
It was easier to try to stitch his own ribs closed once he felt like he could move again without screaming in agony.
Song 14 - Kisses 3 - Cruxshadows
The kiss was nothing more than a chaste brush of lips. One warm pair of lips ghosting across a cooler pair. There was no heated exchange of emotions, no passion, no meeting of love in that kiss. It simply was. The kiss was an act of kindness; he let her have her kiss as a bit of comfort before she would leave to go meet with their master for what could be the last time.
The kiss was everything wrapped up in one moment, passions met, tongues battled for dominance, teeth scraped against lips. He wrapped his arms around his lover, holding their bodies close for the scant few minutes they had before they would have to break apart and fight each other again. The kiss was a frantic moment in time, a heated exchange in place of words. Both parties growled into the kiss, loving the fight, loving each other, though never speaking the words out loud.
The kiss was something much like a homecoming. The gentle welcome of a lover that had been gone from home for far too long. It tasted of all things bitter (pain, blood, parting) and all things sweet (love, emotion, endless desire). When the pale face pulled away for breath to look down at his lover dark haired lover, he knew he would come back. Kisses like this for luck never failed.
Song 15 - Addicted - Simple Plan (Ichigo)
Everyone had their own addictions.
Addiction: The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something.
Everyone had a dependency that they needed to get through the day. Some people drank coffee, some people smoked, others would drink. His addiction was something unique. Most people did not have another person for their addiction.
And thats what it was
He wanted him.
He needed him.
He was very happily addicted and had been since the first moment they met. One single moment in time sealed his fate when he faced off against the person that would become his lover. Every word they ever spoke was branded into his mind.
Every touch, even those caused in the heat of battle, lived inside of his skin. He could feel the ghost hands on his skin when he closed his eyes. When they were apart his body burned with the memory of the others touch.
He wondered at times if he deserved the agony of waiting for the other.
He would wait forever for his lover to come back and visit him.
He was addicted after the first sweet blood drenched taste of his lover, and it was an addiction he wanted to feed at every moment.
How long will I be waiting for you
Ill wait till the end of time.
Song 16 - A Change Would Do You Good - Sheryl Crow (Orihime)
The real problem with Hueco Mundo wasnt the scores of Arrancar that resented her presence, Orihime mused. She could deal with that. It didnt matter that most of them wanted her dead for some reason or another, and it was only by the grace of Aizen-sama that she continued to live each and every identical day.
It wasnt the food, though it was horribly bland and reminded her that she was perhaps the only one to eat in the world, so why should they care how it tasted if they never ate.
It wasnt the loneliness. Ulquiorra-san and Grimmjow-san kept her from being really lonely.
No the problem lay in the fact that nothing ever changed. Every being went through the same motions day in and day out. Nothing would ever change and that would drive her mad is she didnt do anything.
The next day she would greet Ulquiorra-san with a bright real smile as she was in the process of shoving the couch she had from one side of the room to the other.
It was a small change, but it seemed to make all the difference in the world.
She was making changes.
Song 17 - Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground (Orihime)
Two pair of food coloring red lips met awkwardly causing the room to suddenly fall silent of giggles for the first time in an hour. One pale pink tongue slipped out to lick the sweet stickiness from the others lips.
They pulled away, quiet for a moment in the room, staring deeply at each other in thought. Bowls of melting ice were slowly turning to slush between them.
Matsumoto licked her own lips again before giving Orihime a wide smile. That was actually really good
Can I have another taste of yours?
Orihime picked up her shaved ice and took another bite of the treat, at the same time the well endowed Shinigami leaned forward and pressed her into a kiss. The sweet taste of the two girls mixed with the sweet flavor of the cherry syrup as they passed the piece of ice back and forth between each other.
Orihime never knew shaved ice could taste so good in her life.
Song 18 - Father of Mine - Everclear (Ryuuken
The click of a doorknob was a very distinctive sound. It always seemed like such a final sound. It was amazing how each door could sound so unique, and the meaning behind shutting the door could be such a huge influence on how it sounded.
The banging of a door slamming at the end of a fight would sound like the last nail being hit into a coffin. That was what it sounded like when a 12 year old boy walked out of his longtime home and swore never to return to his father again. It was the sound of a man dying inside.
The soft sound of a door being shut in an attempt to be as silent as possible, with that person that standing across the room staring evenly with identical expressions on both their faces as eyes met. The sound of this doorknob was something more hopeful. Perhaps now
3 years later, there might be some hope of mending the relationship that died with the sound of the last door between them.
Maybe Ryuuken wouldnt have to hate the sound as much as he thought.
Song 19 - Falling in love at a Coffee Shop - Landon Pigg (Ryuuken)
He told him he loved him over a cup of coffee.
Dark blue eyes blinked and slowly looked up over silver rimmed glasses to stare at his face for a long moment, before flickering back to the textbook. He already knew the truth. They both knew how the other felt.
The idiot was still sitting there, staring at him in expected silence.
He gave a sigh and looked back at him, taking a sip out of his own coffee cup. I know Isshin. I love you as well, but that does not change the fact that we have a test on Friday, and we should have been studying last night instead of going out and slaying Hollows.
And having sex. He added helpfully.
Yes and having- KUROSAKI! The Quincy choked on his coffee and spent the next few moments trying to get his breathing under control. That is not something to talk about in public
especially if you intend on going out with that Masaki-girl you are so fond of this weekend.
Isshin shrugged and took a drink of his coffee. I know, I just like that blush you get when I mention it in public
Song 20 - Smog Moon - Mathew Sweet (_________)
A dusty gray moon looked down on the sleeping town while a single figure pulled a bag up on his shoulder. He would have a new life here. He would be just like everyone else, nothing strange about the new guy. Nope. Nothing at all. Just an average med student that was going to get married, have three kids, and NOT do anything outstanding. At least thats what he would tell himself as he pretended not to hear the cries of those that had fallen.
That same moon looked down years later at another man. This one held a bitter frown as he gazed out over the town. He had spent all of his life working to help and save this town from a threat that most people didnt even know existed, and the world repaid him by taking the one thing he loved more than anything else away from him. They had such a short time together, leaving him with only memories and a child as her legacy/ He made a promise on the soul of the one he loved never to fight again as he lowered his bow one last time.
Years later under that same dull moon, two boys would meet. They were both the mirror images of the older men that had stood under the same moon. The words that were declared up to the moon were old words, they had been said a long time ago, but the moon wouldnt tell anyone that as it passed behind a cloud. The boys would gravitate to each other in the darkness time and time again. Something in each of them called to the other in a way that they couldnt deny as the days would pass into years.
The clouds eventually passed, and a bright white moon smiled down at the two boys that laid in each others arms looking up at the clear sky.
